Pom Pom Pomander!

So the isle for the ceremony is being lined with pomanders. The Americans call them kissing balls, I just think they are beautiful.
Again I am putting a twist on things by not using fresh flowers. I was trawling online and saw some beautiful paper ones. So here you go, this post has pictures!
The ribbons still need attaching but I will add a picture when they are done. Enjoy!

Fresh or fake?

Now for this post I am talking flowers. Do you spend buckets on fresh cut arrangements (believe me it costs buckets) or do you go for one of the many; and frankly beautiful alternatives?

My dream wedding featured peonies and hydrengeas but alas early March isn't exactly the season for them. Yes I could pay over the odds but I don't think they are worth the effort.

So I started looking around. A friend had a button bouquet, another used fake flowers for her table decorations. I loved both but wasn't transfixed by either.

To Etsy!!!

If in need of inspiration go to etsy, the items are out of this world and could inspire even the most boring person. This is where I discovered fabric bouquets decorated with brooches and beads (magpie moment). But the sticking point was the price, now I know they take work but 200 just wasn't washing with me. I needed to either find cheaper (cheaper looks just that) or make my own......

No herein came my master plan; I could make my bouquet! Sure it would take time but I'm on maternity leave I can fit it in surely!?

To those of you with a baby will know this is almost laughable that I will have loads of spare time. But I am determined to make it now and so far have piles of silks, satins and chiffons ready to cut and create with.
I have got a few disasters out the way and now know what style I'm going for. They oddly are very similar to a peony or even a Juliet rose.

I will keep you updated on my progress :)

Sorry to busy to Blog!!

So its been a while, for that I am very sorry. The thing is when you have a baby, buying a house(more on that later) AND planning a wedding you aren't really left with much time, well for anything really!

So to update you on La wedding. WE HAVE A VENUE!!!

Yes my heart won out we are going for a small intimate barn (yay!)
It is in the Dutch style with the UK's largest indoor BBQ and a very nice glass conservatory pinned on the side. Interested? Find it here www.crippsstonebarn.com

I had dreams of walking down an isle - there is one
I wanted a room that had feeling and atmosphere - bucket loads of the stuff!
I wanted the dining area to be separate from the dancefloor to avoid the dreaded turnover - not a problem, you dine in the conservatory.
I dreamed of high ceilings and open beams - Darling its a bleeding barn!!

Basically I walked in and I was sold. It had the lot. Beautiful features with option for outside ceremony, candles EVERYWHERE,fairy lights imitating the night sky, massive restored oak doors, enough space without being cavernous and most of all it quite simply felt right.

So the nitty gritty began, when can we have it? We wanted March.... Sold! We are getting Married on March 2nd 2013. A mere 4 months from now.

Am I filling my pants at the prospect?

Ask me in a few weeks
